Since the name Żejtun is so closely associated with the Olive, this tree is of particular significance to the people of the town. For them, it is a symbol of their pride and heritage as well as peace. This tree was replanted here by the Local Council at the start of the new millennium. The canon used to defend Żejtun at the time of the French occupation was also laid here under the symbol of peace in the hope that humanity will learn to solve all conflicts without recourse to arms.
